VanVR App heart

The VanVR App (Virtual Reality Anatomy and Pathology Project) provides an immersive virtual learning environment where medical students can interact with scans of real anatomical and pathological specimens. In a world where higher education is increasingly reliant on virtual resources and medical student’s exposure to anatomical specimens is decreasing, this application will help supplement the student’s laboratory time in an engaging fashion.

The project focuses on a web interface so that the app is broadly accessible as a teaching tool during Covid19 remote and online learning. In the fall of 2020, five different UBC courses will have custom lab experiences with the app.

VanVR App browser version uses 3D Scanning, Photogrammetry, WebGL and Azure Server. Unity is the main engine for this project.
